I suggest that the news letter can have a regular periodicity of once a month. This should cover all the events that have happened in the chapter or the announcements that we want to make. I am offering to draft the newsletters, if you can download any info that needs to go on newsletter to me as and when you get it. I will store it in my folder and put it all together every month so that we can shoot it by 7th of every month.

As for the rest of the events, the site is there to carry the news on a daily basis.

Another suggestion. The breaking news section can show the lastest 5 news items and for the rest of the news, the readers can go to archives month wise.

Let's use this area to plan monthly meetings. As of now, there is no meeting planned. This is an opportunity for anyone who would like to plan one to step forward. Let's talk about this folks, it doesn't make sense for us to be passive as a community and wait for me Gauri or Altaf or Asha to take an initiative and then have lukewarm responses.

Either we want it or we don't. If you think its a waste of time, SAY so, so that we know. If you have suggestions, would like to support, coordinate or whatever...... please use this space.

Oh Yes! Sushma had sent an email to be forwarded to HR contacts about a social networking event to be held on the 29th. I'll make a post about it and then I can talk about it in the newsletter. This will mean that the newsletter needs to go out soon, so that people come to know about it.

But I usually don't send out newsletters for non-ISABS announcements, so this will not do, I guess.......

The meeting got canceled, or we would have a report of it and the announcement for the next meeting. I guess we could plan a monthly meeting fast and announce it.....

There isn't a meeting to announce (yet) or a new event (Summer national event has already been announced), but there is much movement on the front of the PDP virtual study group area.

I'm in a dilemma - to newsletter, or not to newsletter.

On one hand, it is important to make this resource available to all the PDP participants so that it can start becoming useful ASAP. On the other hand, only a handful of the people getting the newsletter will be PDP people. The rest will only get bored, or worse, feel left out.

So now, I'm on the prowl for what I can put on the newsletter. Suggestions welcome.

It was my first experience of being part of the faculty. Of taking on responsibilities, interacting with facilitators more than participants and of keeping silent when a lab was in progress. It has impacted me so deeply, that I'm still wading through and absorbing new stuff as I think of it.

I am discovering layers and nuances of my experiences, new perspectives on situations I was in.

I realized that I was doing more things than I usually do on an event. Between the labs, discussions with facilitators, participating on communities and taking opportunities to address concerns that were the loudest in my mind, I didn't take the time to do anything else.

Vikram, the way you include everyone and accept what people have to share and be with them touched me. My first experience of this event as an observer began with you "welcoming me to the other side" and flowed into a time that I enjoyed thoroughly and learned from and changed me. It never ceases to amaze me how you can have so many responsibilities and be so easily open to everyone else. A hug for you.

Gauri, being your room mate was like being at home. Your caring, support, openness...... and the bed tea and how getting ready every day became an exciting adventure in clothes decisions :D I enjoyed spending the morning on the stairs listening to songs and watching all those jogging conscious people sweat it out. (Sankar, Shridhar, Rahul.... you guys listening?)

Ryan I appreciate you playing music for the community and the talk we had afterwards. You surprised me with the honesty with which you speak. I enjoyed every minute we were together.

Gautam, I enjoyed the interaction we had when we drove home together after the event. It was one of the most comfortable and enjoyable "withdrawals" I had from ISABS and it meant a lot to me that we were together.

Sushma, I missed you in the final community session.

Rahul, I enjoyed your energy and assertiveness and the way you go for what you want and are so into it.

Sanjay :)

Vignesh, I appreciate the way with which you brought us in your car to the event. It made me feel really special the way you indulged in our wishes, shared your warehouse development and catered to our whims from music and concern for comfort, conversation, vada paav and your relationship with the people in that place to things like driving the car up so that we could take luggage out nearer to our rooms. I felt on top of the world and totally cherished by the time I got into my room.

I thought that a thread to list available locations would be good so that we could know about them when planning monthly meetings.

At the moment, locations generously offered are:

Pratima and Sunil's place - we had the Jan 2008 meeting here. They have offered their home to future meetings if needed.
National Park - was an experiment with holding meetings outdoors. Its available, but the meeting itself wasn't attended by many.
Monica's place We have planned the meeting for March there.
Vignesh's office - conference room He has mentioned that we can use it whenever we like. It has the added advantage of having things like a white board and projector, if we need them. Its location at Marol naka is also reasonably convenient to access for most people in Mumbai

Feel free to use this thread to suggest or offer locations or discuss where the next meeting should be, etc.

Very often, there are things we want to know, stuff we want to share, and events and meetings are a long way away.

These forums are an ever-present contact point for such occasions.

I also thought that this would be another way of us to be getting to know each other better, while also speaking of things.

I've been getting queries about the Tarang event all the time, but people don't bring it up here.

I guess it is all still very new. I'd like to invite all of you to join in here so that we can all pool in what we know, as well as simply read answers to our questions that may already have been asked by others. My main reason for doing this is that our community doesn't remain dependent on me for getting information they need if I am unavailable to answer my emails.

What comes up here can be addressed by any of the many people who would know.

I miss the interactions with ISABS members between events, and I'm hoping that an online contact point can keep us in touch better and allow us to find people to connect with whenever we need.

I'm looking forward to staying in touch with our community through this forum.
